Description
Ply Chair was originally developed for Kona, a Japanese eatery in Copenhagen. Its strict rhytm and dynamic pattern makes it a chair that both works as standalone object or as a series for the dining table. It is the second iteration of Ply Chair 01 from our first research into structure; Furniture Studies 01 is a series of plywood furniture that aims to reinvent the joinery, structure, and proportions of traditionally-crafted Chinese and Japanese joinery through contemporary materials and digital fabrication techniques. Made entirely of laminated pine plywood, this chair contains the texture and visual identity of the process in which it was produced. We want to showcase how industrial materials, with the right technology and care, can be uplifted to that of precious solid wood. Designed and manufactured in-house in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Care _ Maintenance
All of our plywood furniture is finished with 2 layers of Osmo Hardwax
An eco-friendly finish that enhances the beauty of the wood while at the same time providing effective protection.
Note that pine plywood will naturally age over time, developing from a light yellow-ish beige colour to a warm, honey-like tone.
To maintain your Plywood Chair 02 clean it when nessesary with a damp sponge, avoiding harsh chemicals, handsoap will do the trick. Avoid excessive moisture and direct sunlight. To protect the plywood surface from other influences, you may wish to re-apply the protective linseed-oil finish.

All our products are made-to-order to manufacture responsibly and cost efficiently, we produce our items based on demand and organize production in seasonal batches. After ordering, you will receive a confirmation email with the estimated production and shipping dates.

Archival Products are produced locally in Copenhagen. Design, prototyping and most of our production is done in our studio in Valby. For our metal products we have partnered with local producer Gladsaxe Klip og Buk for their expertise in CNC laser-cutting and metal sheet bending.
