Divider 01 is a curved movable wall for dividing interior space and creating atmosphere.
Its large curved surfaces catch the light and shadow in a space, emphasizing both. With one side being a concave curve and the opposite being convex, the Divider can be used to create interior and exterior space, or the contrasting qualities of inclusion and exclusion.
The Dividers are built from thin pine plywood sheets that are held in tension by a rigid CNC-milled pine plywood structure. Sand placed inside the bottom provides stability for the Dividers to be fully freestanding. 2 strong magnets at the top of each Divider allow for them to stay in alignment when joined together.
A set of warm grey linseed-painted Dividers was developed for the new office of Refshaleøens Ejendomsselskab(Interior 03), to extend from the primarily concrete space.
